Common questions

Do I need a referral?

Yes. Ask your GP for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), sometimes called a Care Plan, and a referral to a Credentialled Diabetes Educator. With the plan, your sessions are bulk billed under Medicare, so there’s nothing to pay.

How many sessions does Medicare cover?

Up to 5 individual allied health sessions per calendar year, or up to 10 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. These are shared across all your allied health providers, such as a podiatrist or dietitian, so talk to your GP about how to split them.

I have an older GP Management Plan. Is it still valid?

Yes. Plans put in place before 1 July 2025 can still be used until 30 June 2027.

How long does my referral last?

For the time written on the referral. If no time is written, 18 months from your first session.

What do I need for a video appointment?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and internet. We send you a link before the appointment. A family member is welcome to join you and help with translating.

I work at a GP surgery. How do I refer?

Email the Care Plan and recent blood tests to support@odde.com.au. We contact the patient to book and send you a written report on how it went.
